Relinquish What?

A few posts back, I mentioned that Oia finally made her dot on the growth charts for the first time ever. This meant that it was time for me to relinquish the fork and allow her to begin self-feeding. I have always been guilty of chasing her around the house at meal times with a fork or spoon full of some buttery goodness to make sure she gets the full belly and calories she needs. Relinquishing the fork is not an easy thing to do when you're a neat-freak like me plus constantly worrying that someones skinny, little body is getting the nutrition required to endure therapies and other physical challenges. In addition, when your daughter does this at mealtime, it doesn't make giving up the fork any easier....

...Stinker.

  1. The messiness factor always makes it hard for me to let Charlie self-feed.

    She is so cute!

  2. Oh Mo,
She is the cutest thing ever! She reminds me so much of Faith in her mannerisms! That just made my morning! Hey, meal time is therapy, right?

  3. Haha!! She's so funny! She's got it down!
I also wont let Hanna do her own thing with eating...I don't trust she'll get what she needs. She's way too small. I know exactly where you're coming from with that approach!!

  5. I was curious when Oia's head started growing well. Myra's head is still overlapped at 7 months, too. Also, did you not notice any issues with her tone before she was diagnosed with CP? How did she move as an infant? When did she hit her milestones for holding her head up, sitting up, crawling and walking? I hope you don't mind my questions. Who else do you ask these questions to? =) She seems very sweet and I love the videos. Thanks for chatting. -Ashley
